This site serves as an introduction to the forthcoming book by brothers  Martin and Paul Kelly entitled Vox Guitars. Besides being the first book solely dedicated to the subject, Vox Guitars will seek to set the record straight on this much maligned, iconic brand from the 1960’s. The book will be a thorough and concise history of guitars and effects pedals produced under the Vox banner from 1959 through to the early 1970’s. It will contain accurate information on every model produced both in England and Italy during that period, illustrated in colour throughout with photographs of the instruments and those who designed, built and played them.

A companion book to Jim Elyea’s soon to be released Vox Amplifiers. The JMI Years, Vox Guitars is slated for publication in autumn 2008. Those interested in ordering Jim’s book should check out the links page here.

Over the coming months we will be adding more to the site, if you would like updates of this and information about the book’s release please go to our mailing list and enter your details.

Although over 60 original guitars have been photographed so far we are constantly on the lookout for more instruments to feature in the book. If you think you have something that should be included - a guitar, some original literature, ephemera, or some relevant information please get in touch via the contact page.

The design of these pages should give you an idea of what’s to come, we look forward to hearing from you and will post updates as the book progresses.
